Judgement Criteria

Open to CVCA member private equity investment firms in good standing.

  • Cash realization value, with consideration to also include total realization value (including any deferred, escrowed, or non-cash consideration), and;
  • Multiple of invested capital returned, with consideration to also include IRR achieved.

Novacap Management Inc.
Montreal-based Novacap Management Inc. is the recipient of CVCA's 2018 Private Equity Deal of the Year Award for its investment in Montreal-based Chemical Computing Group. This deal was selected for the 2018 award for outstanding cash realization value, and multiple of invested capital returned.





2019 Venture Capital Deal of the Year Award

We want to hear about the venture capital deal that ventured further than the rest. This prestigious award recognizes the VC firm that pushed the needle on actual realizations in 2018, essentially establishing a new paradigm in deal-making for the industry as a whole.

Ted Anderson Community Leadership Award

By giving back, we all win

You don’t give back to the community for the recognition or awards, but one very special, passionate and caring individual is going to win one anyway. The esteemed Ted Anderson Community Leadership Award recognizes an individual’s remarkable commitment of time and effort to a community organization or cause. This individual will have made a profound impact upon the organization or cause, thereby contributing to a greater quality of life for the people their generosity has touched.

Judgement Criteria

Open to CVCA members in good standing.

  • Substantial value to a not-for-profit organization/cause;
  • Commitment of time and effort over a number of years to an organization/cause;
  • Individual impact on the organization/cause;
  • Raising and personal commitment of money;
  • Active commitment to community engagement; and,
  • Leadership across a variety of organizations.

Robert Antoniades, The Upside Foundation Of Canada
Robert received the 2018 Community Leadership Award for his leadership in the creation of the Upside Foundation of Canada. The Upside Foundation of Canada a charity, that enables early-stage, high-growth companies to support their community by donating stock options or warrants for the charity of their choice.





2019 Private Capital Regional Impact Award

Making a difference from the ground, up

When you invest in the health of Canada’s communities, you make a world of difference. This prestigious award recognizes member firms that have made a meaningful impact on their local community through spurring job creation, growing a diversity of skilled talent and involvement in overall community engagement.

Judgement Criteria

Open to CVCA member private equity and venture capital firms in good standing. Up to four firms will be selected, with one winning recipient per region.

  • Portfolio company exit in 2018;
  • Cash on cash investment multiples, demonstrating financial performance of investment;
  • Notable job creation & growth since the portfolio company’s inception; and,
  • Percentage of women and visible minorities on the portfolio company’s executive team.

Meet Our 2018 Winner

Clairvest Group
The winner of the 2018 award is Toronto-based private equity firm Clairvest Group for their partnership with Kitchener-based CRS Contractors Rental supply, a company which has added hundreds of jobs to the Ontario economy. CRS also increased female representation in leadership through new hires in human resources, safety and marketing.
